HEY ARE BUILDING THE FUTURE OF BAKERY

As part of the Louis Lesaffre Cup, Lesaffre has created a brand new fringe event alongside its competition: the “Young Bakery Hopefuls”.

Selected from 35 countries, during friendly events, there were 5 young bakers running to compete in the world final in 2016 which took place the 5th of February during Europain Show.

THE RESULTS 2016

And it was with emotion and joy that this very first title of World Young Bakery Hopeful was awarded to a passionate and driven young woman: Rianne KUINTJES from the Netherlands. She was trained by the coach Richard JANSEN to create products that blended aesthetics, great tastes and variety. Alongside Rianne, the young Australian John REMINIS received the special food critic’s prize. Congratulations to our winners and to all the candidates and coaches for this unique experience and this superb competition.

THE CHALLENGE:

It is a garden party, a luncheon on the grass, at which the guests are children aged from 6 to 10. For this brunch, our “Young Bakery Hopefuls” must present 2 savoury and 2 sweet bread products and Viennese pastries. Real gastronomic delights, these products must make up a complete meal and be adapted, in terms of appearance and taste, for the target audience of these children.

To evaluate the creations from the “Young Bakery Hopefuls”, the competition is endowed with an international jury drawn from two domains of expertise: technical bread making expertise and culinary expertise.

The jury will awarded the “2016 World Young Bakery Hopeful” prize… a first in this field.
